Dylan Dreyer’s Son ‘Like a Regular Kid,’ After Diagnosis Helped Treat Pain

TODAY anchor Dylan Dreyer recently updated fans on her son’s health following his celiac disease diagnosis.

“[He] has no more pains, no more headaches, no more stomach aches. He’s just like a regular kid,” Dreyer said of Calvin, 6.

Before his diagnosis, Calvin was experiencing stomach pain almost every day, headaches and earaches, hair loss, and a stomach ulcer.

While she’s happy that the diagnosis means she knows how to keep Calvin feeling good, Dreyer admitted she’s still adjusting to his new diet.

“I packed and made so much food for my mother-in-law to take with her so that he could spend the week up at his grandparents’ house,” Dreyer explained. “Different dinners and lunches and breakfast just because it’s a pain. But it’s a pain for me, it’s not a pain for him. He has no idea what I do to make his life totally normal, so he doesn’t know any different.”

In another interview about Calvin’s celiac diagnosis, Dreyer shared that, even though there are some adjustments to make, overall, she is “grateful” that his symptoms pre-diagnosis weren’t signs of something more serious.

“We were very concerned because we thought it was something much more serious because of how some of the results came back,” she explained. “You start Googling and thinking the worst, so when we found out it was celiac, I could say, ‘Okay that’s an inconvenience, it’s a life change, but we can manage that.’ We were very grateful.”

Dreyer has been sharing her family’s gluten-free journey on Instagram, posting photos of her food preparations.

“Just a little gluten-free dough prep for the holiday weekend using everyday ingredients…” she captioned a picture of dough, including ingredients like rice flour and potato starch.
