Emily Blunt To Take Break From Acting To Focus On Family

By Movieguide® Contributor

Emily Blunt recently revealed she will be taking a break from acting to focus on spending time with her family.

“This year, I’m not working,” she said during an appearance on the TABLE FOR TWO WITH BRUCE BOZZI podcast. “I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is 9, so we’re in the last year of single digits, and I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little. And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Blunt explained that there is an “emotional cost” for both her and her daughters — Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, who she shares with husband and actor John Krasinski — which is why she decided to take some time off.

The actress has previously spoken about how she balances motherhood and a busy work schedule.

She recently told Harper’s Bazaar that she has a strict policy of never being away from her daughters for more than two weeks at a time.

“Because even though they’re hardy, and they’re used to this strange life, it’s still rough on them when I have to go away,” Blunt shared

Her daughters are uninterested in acting so far, but Blunt has spoken about her desire to help them find what they’re passionate about.

“I want them to grow up wanting something, feeling passionate about something, and being proud of who they are. And I think a lot of that is just finding something you love to do,” Blunt said in an interview with Porter. “I didn’t grow up with a burning ambition to be an actress at all, it just revealed itself to me – and I think that’s wonderful when it happens like that.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Blunt’s happy family:

Emily Blunt, who is married to actor and director John Krasinski, recently starred in A QUIET PLACE PART II, an expression of the couple’s love for family.

The couple, who were married in July 2010, share two daughters Hazel, 7, and Violet, 5.

“Just love,” the 38-year-old actress said of the secret to her happy family. “You’ve got to keep loving and loving, and just listening.”
