Not even a broken back kept Forrest Frank from writing music, and when Crowder, another Christian singer, got injured, the two collaborated on a faith-filled song.

The song, titled “The Rock,” came about after Crowder tagged Frank in an Instagram post about his broken leg.

“I was super bummed when my leg broke — it was uncomfortable and inconvenient, for sure,” Crowder told The Christian Beat. “But I was aware of what had transpired with Forrest’s back and the miraculous turnaround he had seen and the wake of music and prayer that was coming from what seemed to be a setback. I think that’s one of the most beautiful things about the church — when you see God active and reliable in someone else’s experience, you believe it is possible for you.”

Frank broke his back last month while skateboarding with his son. While bedridden for two weeks, he released two viral songs, “God’s Got My Back” and “Lemonade.” Then, God miraculously healed him.

“I was so thankful that Forrest let us in on his difficulty because instead of frustration or worry, I immediately had a sense of expectation — like, ‘okay God, what are You up to? Whatever it is, I’m here for it,'” Crowder said of his injury. “That no matter what — whether my leg is healed miraculously, or if it’s a long and arduous recovery, whatever comes — my hope and my satisfaction and my joy is in the eternal Rock of Ages. That’s what I’m standing on. Not my circumstances.”

After Crowder reached out to Frank, Frank responded with the beginning of a song, telling him, “You might not be able to stand, but you can stand on the Rock.”

The pair dropped the completed collab just last week.

The lyrics to the song read:

I put my faith in Jesus, mmh (I put my faith in Jesus)
I put my trust in God (I put my trust in God)
All other ground is sinking sand (All other ground is sinking sand)
So I’m standing on the- (What?)

I’m standing on the- (What?)
I’m standing on the- (What?)
Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock
Yeah, I’m standing on the-
Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock

The song’s core message comes from the parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24-27:

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.

Despite the setbacks Frank and Crowder experienced after their injuries, the two artists used their circumstances as an opportunity to put their faith to the test and show the world Jesus is greater than anything we could ever face.
