What GOD’S NOT DEAD Star Hopes Christians Learn from Fifth Movie

By Movieguide® Contributor

Even though election day has passed, actor David A.R. White hopes that the fifth movie in the GOD’S NOT DEAD franchise will encourage Christians to take their political involvement seriously.

“We have this weird thing that, as Christians, [we say that] politics is a dirty business, so we don’t want to be involved,” White told Church Leaders. “But the problem is if we don’t get involved, then somebody else chooses for us of how our country should go. And I think we’re in the midst of that right now, and that’s why this election seems to be quite important.”

The number of Christians that don’t vote is astounding to White. Though many Christians believe the country is in jeopardy, they abstain from one of the main methods they have to make a difference. He hopes his movie can show just how important having the right leaders is.

“What the movie is about is that Christians don’t want to be involved in politics, you know. There’s this crazy stat that says 40 million American Christians don’t vote in presidential elections,” White told TBN earlier this year. “[They aren’t] involved, which is just voting. Like that’s the first step of getting involved and so that’s the movie.”

“And then, you know, there are lots of twists and turns and the arch nemesis in the movie is all about stamping out God in culture,” White continued. “In our country, unfortunately, there’s a lot of truth to that going on right now.”

GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST is a well-crafted movie that’s consistently enjoyable, well-acted and suspenseful. David A.R. White and Ray Wise do wonderful jobs opposing one another. They are ably supported by the rest of the cast, which includes Dean Cain and Isaiah Washington. GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST has a strong Christian, biblical, moral worldview. It stresses the importance of God and Christianity in our culture, politics and daily lives. The movie gives parents a chance to discuss God and political issues with their older children.

While the message of GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST is extremely timely, White never planned on everything coinciding so perfectly. He believes it was God’s timing.

“I just believe that God brings it for such a time as this. He brings it out and this one, again, just seems like it’s aligning up perfectly with where culture is and what culture needs to hear,” he said.

The fifth movie in the GOD’S NOT DEAD franchise is now available to stream on Great American Pure Flix.
