Google’s Leaked AI Assistant ‘Takes Over’ Your Computer

By Movieguide® Contributor

Google just accidentally leaked its new AI assistant technology, a program called Jarvis.

“The app was briefly available on the extension store for the Chrome browser, although it’s since been removed,” MSN reported. “Some people did manage to download it before it was taken down again, although they were unable to get it to work.”

The app listing for Jarvis described the program as “a helpful companion that surfs the web with you,” per TechRadar, explaining that Jarvis can help you with tasks like online shopping and booking travel.

What sets Jarvis apart is the fact that it “takes over” your computer.

Inc.com explained that the technology powering Jarvis uses “computers the way people do — by looking at a screen, moving a cursor, clicking buttons, and typing text,” meaning a user can do other tasks while Jarvis buys concert tickets or searches files for a specific document.

Basically, other AI programs require the user to interact and prompt them; Jarvis would be using the computer on its own.

Even though Jarvis was added to — and swiftly removed from — the app store, MSN reported that the program won’t be “officially revealed” until December.

“It’ll initially only be for web browsers,” the outlet continued. “Chrome will be the priority, of course. The assistant is powered by Gemini 2.0.”

Gemini is Google’s current AI assistant tool.

MSN also noted that early users should expect an initial testing round before they get “a more polished version.”

“Companies are seemingly rush-releasing AI services at present, mostly working on a launch first, fix later model,” they added.

Google isn’t the only tech company pushing its AI assistant tool. Apple recently launched its own called Apple Intelligence.
