Disney’s HANNAH MONTANA 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL will feature none other than Miley Cyrus herself when it hits Disney+ on March 24.
“The special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an exclusive, in-depth interview with Miley Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper,” Disney+ said in a press release last week. Viewers will get to see never-before-seen moments from the archive and iconic set pieces like the Stewart family living room and Hannah Montana closet.
“HANNAH MONTANA will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” said Cyrus. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Last year, Cyrus teased that she wanted to mark the anniversary in some way.

“I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this. Without Hannah, there wouldn’t really be this me,” she said.
She originally thought her childhood role wasn’t something she would be able to escape from, but now she’s grateful for it.
There’s a sense of “nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood…So, that’s exciting to get to celebrate that,” she said.
“HANNAH MONTANA opened the door for so many fans to dream big, sing loud, and embrace every side of themselves, which is why its legacy continues to shine across generations,” said Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television. “Partnering with Miley on this special is a dream, and we want it to be a love letter to the fans, who remain as passionate today as they were when the series debuted almost 20 years ago.”
On Thursday, Disney+ started a nonstop stream of all things HANNAH MONTANA. To date, the franchise has accrued over half a billion hours streamed globally on Disney+ alone. And that doesn’t even include all of the Disney Channel hours from our childhoods.
“Really, Hannah Montana was not a character,” Cyrus said in 2020. “The concept of the show, it’s me. I’ve had to really come to terms with that and not be third-person about it.”
At the time, she also said she’d love to come back as HANNAH MONTANA.
“You know what, honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time,” she said. “She’s just in storage collecting dust, and I’m ready to whip her out…The opportunity will present itself.”
“I definitely would like to resurrect her at some point. She needs a big makeover because she’s kinda stuck in 2008, so we’ll need to go shopping with Miss Montana,” the singer continued. “But that’s sometime e in the future and hopefully I’m directing it.”
She may not be directing the anniversary special, but she’s certainly going to dust that wig off.
