HGTV Sells THE BRADY BUNCH House at Surprising Loss

HGTV recently sold the house featured in THE BRADY BUNCH for $3.2 million – over $2 million less than the network originally asked.
“This is a one-of-a-kind property which was impossible to comp,” Danny Brown, the listing agent on the house, told TVLine. “This is not a home anyone would ever live in, and savvy investors understand that Airbnb rental laws are nuanced and restrictive. We felt the property was worth about $3-$3.5 million and that’s exactly where it landed; there are no intellectual property rights that are included in the sale.”
“HGTV spent about $5.5 million purchasing and gutting the house which is why we listed it at $5.5 million, even though we knew it was an aspirational list price,” Brown explained.
The network bought the property in 2018 and worked to recreate the iconic sets from the TV show, such as the floating staircase, the burnt-orange-and-avocado green kitchen and the kids’ bathroom, TVLine added.
The renovations were captured on the series A VERY BRADY RENOVATION, which featured PROPERTY BROTHERS’ Drew and Jonathan Scott. The siblings worked with the original BRADY BUNCH cast members to recreate the house.
This was a taxing task as the house was only used for exterior shots on the show, meaning the interior had to be completely reworked to recreate the iconic sets.
HGTV ended up putting $1.9 million into the renovation.
The new owner, Tina Trahan, shared that she hopes to host charitable events in the house.
“Nobody is going to live in it,” she explained. “It’s almost like a life-size dollhouse.”

Though THE BRADY BUNCH only aired for five seasons, the sitcom’s stars say it still has a lasting impact in their hearts and for their fans.
“So, it was sometimes awkward and sometimes fun, but I’ve always enjoyed people watching the show,” Barry Williams, who played Greg, said in a recent interview.
As each of the Brady children grew up on screen, so did the actors and actresses off screen.
“There were a lot of changes,” he said. “You could hear the voice changing, you could see the hair changing, you could see the growth spurts going on with all of us.”
