HOUSE OF DAVID star Michael Iskander got emotional when he visited the set of THE CHOSEN.
“This week I got the visit THE CHOSEN set and see some cool friends! As you can see, I got to witness so many filming locations. And plenty of others that will stay hidden;),” he wrote on Instagram last week alongside a series of photos from his visit.
He continued, “On a serious note: Initially when visiting the set of the last supper, I thought to myself ‘it’s just a set, it’s not the real thing’ yet when I walked inside, I couldn’t help but feel emotional at the thought of what actually took place.”
“This ‘set’ was shining a light back at the real location where Christ held up the unleavened bread and broke it saying ‘This is my body, which is given for you, do this in remembrance of me,’” the actor reflected. “Christ broke His body for us on the cross. While we were sinners, He loved us.”

“All that to say, visiting the set of THE CHOSEN has been a dream come true,” Iskander concluded. “As a fan of this project, the spiritual impact of this show on my life has been enormous. So what an amazing trip. Let’s keep praying for everyone on THE CHOSEN as they tell the greatest story ever told❤️ Also… sorry Caiaphas for sitting on your chair, but it was really comfortable😉”
People in the comment section appreciated Iskander’s openness.
Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in the hit Bible show, commented, “Ahh wish I could have been there to greet ya, great, great, great, great…………….great, great, great grandad! 😂😘💪🏽🙌🏽♥️,” referencing Iskander’s role as King David.
Another person said, “I can only imagine how much that meant to you. So happy to see you got that experience! ❤️”
THE CHOSEN is primarily filmed in Midlothian, Texas, at Camp Hoblitzelle. As filming for Season 7 got underway in April, the show was seeking actors and extras.
The Dallas Morning News reported, “Texas-based Brock Allen Casting posted several notices last week for background actors ahead of filming. The notices were for men, women and babies with olive to deep skin tones. Additional notices were posted on April 24 for a ‘buff Asian man’ and female stand-ins.”
For both Iskander and Roumie, playing such important Biblical figures comes with embracing humility.
“[God] has a knack for humility when it comes to playing roles that are this kind of iconic in salvation history and biblical history,” Roumie said in a conversation with Iskander last year. “I realize that I’ve been involved in playing this character now over the course of the last seven years and there’s not one opportunity to humble me at any step of the process that the Lord doesn’t be like, ‘Yeah, we’re going to let that happen now.’”
THE CHOSEN Season 6 is set to premiere on Prime Video this fall. The second season of HOUSE OF DAVID debuted on Prime Video earlier this spring.
