Actress Edwina Findley recently opened up about how actively seeking God has changed her life.
“The Bible has this great scripture: ‘Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be open unto you,’” Finley explained on Rainn Wilson’s “Soul Boom” podcast. “But sometimes we’re looking for open doors, but we’re not actively knocking. Or we wanna find something, but we’re not actively seeking.”
When she started actively seeking, God started opening doors for her.
“I have found in my life that when I’ve been that determined to hear from God,” THE RESIDENCE actress said. “There have been times I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna let go until I hear from you.’ And there have been times like, ‘Oh, okay, you’re gonna be bold enough to seek? Well, I’m gonna give you what you ask for.”
She’s grateful that she’s put her trust in God.

“Which requires faith,” Wilson commented.
“So much faith,” she added.
In another interview, she said that many people prophesied she would make it as an actress.
“I started receiving from strangers these prophecies about working with Oprah Winfrey and working with Tyler Perry,” Findley revealed. “People would literally, strangers would stop me on the street, would stop me on the subway..
In 2020, she told actress Priscilla Shirer about her testimony.
“When I was fresh out of college, I created a personal mission statement with God,” she explained. “In fact, that’s how my now-husband Kelvin and I first became close friends — he would lead purpose sessions with me in our Brooklyn neighborhood after church! So my purpose statement is what guides my decision-making every day.”
She used to think that her acting roles were supposed to minister to people, but she eventually learned it’s not always like that.
“I’ve been in the entertainment industry long enough now to see that God ministers in MANY different ways,” she said. “Sometimes it’s through the role and the project, and sometimes it’s with the other actors, directors, and crew behind the scenes. Many times it’s with the fans, and through interviews, speaking engagements, and social media. There’s always a way to use both your career and personal life to make an impact.”
In September, she used her influence to launch a book: The World Is Waiting for You: Embrace Your Calling and Manifest the God Dream Over Your Life. She used the book as a way to reach others and help them achieve what God has placed on their hearts.
She said of the book, “…Despite the obstacles we face, God sees us, and knows us.”
