How LIFEMARK Promotes Christ at the Movies: ‘We’ve Got People Making Decisions For Christ In The Theater’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor and producer Alex Kendrick is celebrating the success of his latest movie, LIFEMARK, and sharing stories of those who have been affected by the movie.

“We’ve got just a flood of responses and people even making decisions for Christ in the theater,” Kendrick shared. “We’re very grateful for what’s going on and can’t wait to see what else God does.”

LIFEMARK, produced by Kendrick, his brother Stephen, and Kirk Cameron, tells the story of an adopted teen who struggles with the decision of whether or not to meet his biological parents.

A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

LIFEMARK is a well-made, heartwarming, inspiring movie produced by the Kendrick Brothers and Kirk Cameron, who also stars. The movie is solid throughout, with a positive Christian worldview. The movie promotes relying on God, believing God’s plan, forgiveness, and loving others. There’s also a beautiful pro-life message about adoption, giving life and the value of life. Don’t let the PG-13 rating stop you from seeing this movie. The movie’s themes about abortion and pro-life issues are the reason the Hollywood elites are giving LIFEMARK such a tough rating.

Speaking about the powerful effect LIFEMARK has had on audiences, Kendrick said, “We’re hearing wonderful testimonies of people saying, ‘Our church group was sitting in the theater, and we saw a woman sitting off to the side crying at the end of the movie. We … went over, started a conversation. She shared her story with us. We were able to minister to her, pray for her, talk about salvation with her.’”

LIFEMARK was originally set to release in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the premiere. This new release date ended up aligning with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

“We had no idea that was going to happen this year,” Kendrick said. “We’re very very grateful, and it seems that the culture is starting to look at this issue again at a heart level. When you look at it from a heart level when you hear true stories like this … it really gives a fresh perspective on it.”
