BLUEY fans, rejoice! Disney just announced that a recorded version of the BLUEY stage show and a new set of minisodes are coming to Disney+.

“BLUEY’S BIG PLAY – THE STAGE SHOW is a special televised version of the popular touring theatrical production, featuring live performances of fan-favorite BLUEY characters brought to life by world-class puppeteers,” Disney explained in a press release. “BLUEY’S BIG PLAY – THE STAGE SHOW is an adaptation of the multiple Emmy® Ward-winning animated series, with an original story by BLUEY creator Joe Brumm and music specially composed by Joff Bush.”

The release of BLUEY’S BIG PLAY and the new set of minisodes, which were previously only available in Australia and online, comes as Disney seeks to make BLUEY a major part of its brand throughout 2026. In December, Disney announced BLUEY characters would begin to come to its theme parks and cruises throughout the year.

Meanwhile, Nielsen data found that BLUEY was the most streamed TV title in the US in 2025, a spot it held the prior year as well. The series amassed 45.2 billion minutes of streaming across the year.

“Animated Australian import BLUEY is the returning champion this year, ranking as the overall most-watched streaming title of the year and most-watched acquired title,” Nielsen reported. “BLUEY’s notably short episodes, which average just eight minutes in length, further underscore just how much the show resonates with kids (who make up more than half the audience) and families.”

The popularity of BLUEY is extremely positive given the show’s commitment to family-friendly stories and life lessons that leave an impact on its young audience. A portion of Movieguide®’s review of BLUEY: Episode 1.52 VERANDAH SANTA reads:

The Christmas Special of BLUEY is a worthy watch for all ages. It has a striking art design, a charming family dynamic, and a strong pro-family worldview. However, there is slight physical violence and a scene of a dog biting the title character’s hand. Lastly, there is no foul language or other objectionable elements. MOVIEGUIDE®recommends this special for both children and parents alike.

A previous study revealed that resilience was the show’s most most touched-upon theme, with nearly half of the episodes speaking to it in some way.

“For each episode, we looked closely at the storyline, characters and themes, identifying moments where a character faced a challenge and showed a resilient response,” explained study co-author Dr. Bradley P. Smith.

“We found BLUEY touches on almost all of the core elements of resilience: trusting relationships, emotional communication, problem-solving, self-regulation, empathy and more,” he added later in the study.

It is encouraging to see Disney continue to invest in BLUEY, especially as the show remains committed to its child audience, focusing on important life lessons while staying away from the downfalls of many other Disney brands.
