Mark Wahlberg recently opened up about how he maintains a strong marriage and why he prioritizes his kids’ well-being over his career.

“Well, look, I mean, we got married in the church. You know, we made that commitment to each other,” Wahlberg told Fox News about his marriage. “That’s something that we take very seriously and so, communication, support.”

“We love each other. I mean, we – like everybody else – we all have problems and issues, but, being able to put those aside and, you know, we’re blessed,” he continued. “We have a beautiful family, beautiful life.”

Wahlberg has been married to his wife, Rhea Durham, for 14 years. They share four children: Ella, 20, Michael, 17, Brendan, 15 and Grace, 13.

Last year, Wahlberg put his family above his acting career and moved them from Los Angeles to Nevada so his kids could have a better childhood.

“I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there,” he said previously. “So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

“It’s a real sense of community,” he added about their new neighborhood. “It’s very small. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody’s kind of looking out for everybody. All kids are all dialed in and not a lot of other distractions, which has been great.”

The actor also relies on his faith as he parents.

“I pray for the patience,” Wahlberg said. “I want to be an example, with my work ethic, with my commitment to my faith, with my commitment to my family. I’ve been put in this position for a reason, it’s not to forget about where I came from. I have to utilize these talents and gifts that have been given to me to help others.”

In 2018, Mark Wahlberg went viral for a morning routine that started with a 2:30 a.m. wake-up; five years later, he explains that his routine changed for his high schoolers.

“I’ve been going like, 3:30 wake-up, 4 o’clock in the gym, kind of finish that, get my reading and my prayer time done, and then start the process of waking them up, which usually ends up taking – I’m up and down the stairs at least three times to get the teenagers up, and I get them off to school, and then I usually start the rest of my day,” Wahlberg told Today.com…

While most of his kids follow a typical teenage schedule, the actor’s youngest, Grace, picked up his early routine, fueled by her passion for equestrian…

“She does not mess around,” he added. “If you even think about getting her there late or missing something, it’s a big problem.”
