James Bailey, better known as Bear Bailey online, shared how the Lord has saved him from a life of sin while celebrating a collaboration with Christian music group Maverick City.
“From drugs, alcohol, and a life of sin to…sobriety, healed relationships, and life with God and worshipping with the group whose music got me through,” Bailey wrote on an Instagram post which showed pictures from before and after he gave his life to Christ.

“‘I’ll Praise You Through’ has been speaking to my heart in a way no other song ever has. 🙏✨,” Bailey added in a different post discussing the collaboration. “Getting to sing it with @maverickcitymusic at the Hearts on Fire conference this past weekend was nothing short of a powerful move of God. I’m still in awe of His presence and His goodness. No matter what season you’re in, praise Him through it – He’s faithful. ❤️🔥”
Bailey’s confession of faith is extremely powerful and has the potential to change many lives as his social media following reaches over four million people. Bailey got his start singing covers of famous songs in gas stations but has since transitioned towards releasing his own original music. Many of these songs focus on the Lord and how He saved Bailey’s life.
“I don’t really know how it all came together, but I know God was behind it,” Bailey told Country Minute in 2023, discussing his sudden success through social media. “I’m just so grateful for the things He’s given me and the people He’s put in my life. You know, I want to help people, and now there are people I don’t even know rooting for me. That’s wild, man. I never could have imagined any of this, and it just keeps getting better.”
It is amazing to see just how bold Bailey has become about his faith and the way he celebrates the things the Lord has saved him from. He joins a growing list of celebrities setting a good example by choosing a fulfilling life and sobriety over one of consumption and substance abuse that only leaves them empty.
Country singer Walker Hayes, for example, previously celebrated the fact that he was able to get sober despite the country music industry often glorifying drinking.
“I am in an industry that can often condone that lifestyle,” Hayes said. “It’s about drinking. And so I’m not trying to combat it or battle it or rid country music of that, but I also want to show people and just normal guys like me that there is an alternative. And we can address when we have a problem. And, honestly, our weakness can be our strength, you know? And that’s OK.”
Praise the Lord for the Bailey’s freedom from his old life and the contentment he has found through his life with God. Hopefully he will continue to reach millions with his story.
