Jarshika Maple Advances to VOICE Finals After Declaring the Name of Jesus on Stage

Worship leader Jershika Maple is advancing to THE VOICE finals after delivering a powerful rendition of gospel song “Break Every Chain.”
Singing through a sore throat, Maple wowed the audience and even earned a standing ovation from all the judges. She finished the performance in tears.
What made her performance all the more impressive was the fact that it saved her from leaving the show. She was at the bottom of the competition and would have to sing to save her chance of getting to the finals. With her performance of “Break Every Chain,” she proved she deserved to advance to the finals.
“You brought yourself to tears, but you probably brought America to tears,” Maple’s coach, John Legend, said. “You’re one of the best vocalists in this show that I’ve ever worked with. You deserve to go to the finale.”
The singer first joined the show as a member of judge Kelly Clarkson’s team, but was later stolen by Legend during the Battles round.
According to Maple’s show bio, she grew up singing in church and has been a member of many choirs. In an interview with The Shreveport Times, the singer said her mother and uncle noticed her talent after hearing sing along to the Barney theme song at age three.
“So, my mom put me in the church choir,” she shared. “I was in the children’s choir, every choir you could think of, ever since. I was big in the choir scene.”
Maple released the spiritual single “I Give” earlier this year, now available to stream and purchase. She will also continue to compete on THE VOICE.
