Jesse Hutch ‘Honored’ With 3 Family-Friendly Nominations
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jesse Hutch took to Instagram to share his excitement for his three Movieguide® award nominations.
“I’m thankful and honored to be nominated for 3 potential awards at this year’s show,” he said in an Instagram story.
He’s been nominated for Movieguide®’s Grace Prize® for Television Performance, the Best Television Episode for Families and the Epiphany Prize® Television for his role in the Great American Pure Flix movie A CHRISTMAS BLESSING.
Hutch has been open about using his acting career to encourage others through uplifting roles.
“Uplifting content is always important,” he told the Washington Times. “The more I interact with the fans, whether it be through social media or in-person meetings, doing stuff in the mall or the gym, or going to conventions … there’s story after story of how they have enjoyed or found joy or found peace, just in everyday life, or maybe they’re going through something really hard and this movie helps uplift them.”
In A CHRISTMAS BLESSING, Hutch plays Otto, who “helps save a food pantry just as the woman who inherited the space is about to sell it for commercial development. Instead, the pantry stays open and helps the community.”
Movieguide® gave A CHRISTMAS BLESSING a + 4 content score, meaning it is “Biblical, usually Christian worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.” Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:
A CHRISTMAS BLESSING on the Great American Family network stars Lori Loughlin. Lori plays Mandy Gilmore, a TV chef who ends her program in New York City after 12 years to visit the top restaurants around the world and write a book. Before she can follow her dream, she must make a stop in Milwaukee to sign the papers selling her late Aunt Susie’s food bank store, Angel’s Fare. After learning more about the food bank, Mandy decides to hold one more Christmas food giveaway. However, she only has a few days to arrange it.
A CHRISTMAS BLESSING tells a delightful, winsome, well-acted story about the meaning of Christmas. It has a strong Christian worldview stressing prayer, salvation and giving, including making a reference to the word of Jesus in Acts. 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” The exact lyrics of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman” about the salvation Jesus brings are heard at least twice. Also, a food bank volunteer uses Chapter Three of Ecclesiastes to help the movie’s romantic lead express his feelings to Mandy.
The 31st Annual Movieguide® Faith and Values Awards Gala will be held at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 9.
