A CHRISTMAS BLESSING tells a delightful, winsome story about the meaning of Christmas, including the joy of giving.
The movie starts with TV chef Mandy Gilmore, played by Lori Loughlin, ending her 12-year run as host of A WORLD OF FOOD, shot in New York City. Mandy plans to spend two years visiting the top restaurants around the world and writing a book about the experience. Before she can follow her dream, however, she has to make a stop in Milwaukee to sign the papers selling her late Aunt Suzie’s food bank store, Angel’s Fare.
However, when she gets there, she discovers that lawyer for the buyer, Adam (James Tupper), who owns a deliver business next door, wrote the wrong address on the sales agreement. So, they have to wait a day to sign the revised agreement. At the same time, Mandy meets a strange man named Otto, who says he used to volunteer for the food bank’s annual Christmas food giveaway and Christmas feast. He starts telling her about it and how much joy it brought the community and her aunt.
So, the next day, Mandy tells Andy she’d like to have one more Christmas food giveaway and feast in honor of her aunt. It’s only six more days, she reminds him.
Mandy gets help from Otto, but she learns from her aunt’s normal donors and food vendors that they thought there wasn’t going to be a Christmas Faire this year because of her aunt’s recent death. So, they already used up their charitable allotment for the year.
Other complications ensure, not the least of which is that Adam seems to be falling for Mandy, but he’s having trouble expressing his feelings.
