Days after she auditioned for AMERICA’S GOT TALENT (AGT), Jessica Sanchez found out she was pregnant, and that made the singer even more excited to come onto the show.
“This year, I just felt this immense peace, like, I’m ready to do this. I took the leap and found out that I was pregnant a couple days later, but it didn’t really hinder me from wanting to take that next step back on that stage,” Sanchez, who competed on the first season of the show at age 10, told TV Insider. “If anything, it kind of motivated me a little bit because I’m like, now I get to do this with my daughter. It’s like a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
Despite being a couple months pregnant now that the show is entering its live performance stage, Sanchez feels as good and as confident as ever.

“Preparing vocally, typically your breathing and stuff gets affected when you’re pregnant, but as far as I’ve been preparing, it hasn’t really been affected tremendously and I’m so thankful for that…” she said. “Even if my voice does get a little impacted from the pregnancy, I’m excited to challenge myself on that stage.”
Thankfully, Sanchez has had more time to prepare than most of her competitors as she received a Golden Buzzer from judge Sofia Vergara, allowing her to skip multiple intermediate rounds of the competition.
“I think something very special happened on this stage with you. It’s amazing that we’re on the 20th anniversary, the 20th season of AGT. You’re here again after 20 years. You’re pregnant. I mean, it’s crazy. You’re so beautiful. You’re so ready to do all this. I mean, I really don’t understand what happened in these 20 years, but I guess they were meant to be because this was a special moment. And I think you deserve this,” Vergara said before awarding Sanchez her Golden Buzzer.
As Sanchez prepares to make her second performance for the season, she is excited to continue making songs her own and showing off her amazing voice which she cultivated over more than 20 years.
“I don’t want to give away too much, but I feel like the first audition, I really came win with a song that a lot of people did not expect me to sing and with this next song, it’s similar as in, like, a lot of people aren’t really going to expect the song,” she said. “It was really fun for me to be creative with it and take it somewhere vocally where a lot of people think it wouldn’t go. I’m excited for that. That’s the only little tease I can give you.”
It is amazing that Sanchez is continuing to perform at such a level while pregnant. Audiences around the country will cheer her on as she makes this amazing memory with her daughter.
