Jim Caviezel Says God Led Him to Acting: ‘Gave My Career to Jesus’

SOUND OF FREEDOM star Jim Caviezel is sharing how God called him to a career in acting.
“He came to me in a movie theater and made me feel like I was the only child that He had, that He loved me that much,” the actor told TBN. “There was this peace I never felt, and then He said, ‘I’d like you to become an actor.’”
Caviezel continued, “I was surrounded by this love from heaven, and I could feel how much He loved me.”
The actor then spoke about his desire to create moral, faith-based content in Hollywood.
“I wanted to make movies that had a redeemable quality,” Caviezel explained. “That’s why I was called into this business. I gave my career to Jesus.”
In an interview with Jet Set Magazine, the actor elaborated on his career aspirations, saying, “I’m looking forward to making more films that tell stories that bring characters to some sense of redemption. At this phase in my career, I want to make sure the writing is strong and the creative team is top-notch so that I continue to grow, too.”
One of Caviezel’s best-known roles is THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, where he played Jesus. The movie has been on people’s minds recently, as Mel Gibson, the movie’s director and co-writer, recently confirmed he is working on a sequel.
“[Gibson] is working on that,” Caviezel shared in an interview with ORMI. “Right now, he’s doing a movie with [Mark] Wahlberg, so he’s finishing that, but he’s been on this for a long, long time. It will be the biggest film in history. It might be two films. Could be three, but I think it’s two.”

Over the past few years, it was reported that Mel Gibson was working on a sequel to THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST along with Writer/Director Randall Wallace (WE WERE SOLDIERS SECRETARIAT, and HEAVEN IS FOR REAL). THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST grossed over $600 million worldwide. The new movie would be titled THE RESURRECTION, taking place in hell and covering what happened in the three-day period before Jesus rose from the dead. Gibson has stated that the movie is a massive undertaking and would take years to develop.
In a USA TODAY interview with Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in THE PASSION, says the sequel is taking shape. “There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience” Caviezel said, “it’s great. Stay tuned.”
While Caviezel isn’t spilling details as to the plans with the highly anticipated sequel from Mel Gibson, he did say, “the film he’s going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.”
