UFC Champion Glorifies God After Victory: ‘Jesus Loves You’

Jon “Bones” Jones defeated Stipe Miocic on Sunday night to win the UFC world heavyweight champion title, and he gave all glory to Jesus.
“Jesus loves you,” he proclaimed to the thousands after the match at Madison Square Garden.
“I tell you what, man, I cannot take credit for a gift like this, and I really owe it all to Him,” Jones told UFC host Joe Rogan.
“I know that there’s millions of people around the world watching right now, and I just want to let you guys know that Jesus loves you so much. That’s all I’ll say about that,” he added.
Among the thousands in attendance, ringside were President-elect Donald J. Trump, Elon Musk, UFC CEO Dana White, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and more.
“A big, big thank you to President Donald Trump for being here tonight,” Jones said. “I’m proud to be a great American champion. I’m proud to be a Christian-American champion.”
The champion is unashamed to proclaim his faith and even has Philippians 4:13 tattooed on his chest.
In an interview in 2019, Jones explained why he got that specific verse tattooed.
“I remember that I represent being able to do all things through Christ,” he said. “And that is overcoming, that is being strong. […] I have to be strong for the people that see my tattoo and believe it. I’ve gotta be strong for the King.”
According to ESPN, “Jon Jones looked exceptional as ever Saturday, knocking out Stipe Miocic with a spinning back kick in the third round of their heavyweight championship fight at UFC 309 inside Madison Square Garden.”
Jones was set to retire after his bout with Miocic, but he just might change his mind.
“I’ve decided maybe I will not retire,” he said. “We’ll negotiate. If everything goes right, maybe we’ll give you guys what you want to see.”
