JP Sears’ Satirical Take on Trump Assassination Attempt Teaches Us This
By Movieguide® Contributor
Following the recent attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump, some are questioning what happened behind the scenes that led to the horrific event.
Comedian JP Sears satirically highlighted the Secret Service’s security failings from that day in a YouTube video titled “The Secret Service During The Assassination Attempt.”
The video begins with the “secret service” surveying the area before the Trump rally that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
“It looks like this roof has a pretty clear line of sight going straight to the podium. You think we should station someone up there?” the first agent asks. “Negative,” the second agent replies. “The director said the roof is way too sloped. She considers it too dangerous for agents whose job it is to take a bullet for the president.”
“Any agent stationed on the ground over by the ladder of that building?” one agent asks. “No, that building 150 yards from the stage is outside of our 500-yard perimeter,” the other agent responds. “Ah big numbers, copy that.”
The bit then showed the “Day of the Rally.”
“Cletus, we’ve got reports of a man with a rifle near building 3,” the agent says. “Copy that,” says Cletus, “I’ll get eyes on him in about 30 minutes.” The video pans to actual footage of when the shooter was seen on top of the building.
“Cletus, yeah, we’re now being informed by 37 eyewitnesses that the man is climbing atop Building 3 with a device shaped similarly to a rifle.” Cletus responds, “What is he hunting?”
“Probably, there’s a lot of white tail in the area,” the other agent responds. “Well, you know, venison’s pretty good if you know how to cook it right,” Cletus says. “Yeah butter. Butter and some red wine,” the other agent answers. “All right well just report back to me let me know if he gets a deer.”
The video then shows the moment Trump was shot.
“Shots fired!” the agent says. “Oh, did he get one?” Cletus asks. “Apparently he was shooting at the stage,” the other agent says. “What? There’s deer on the stage?” asks Cletus. “Uh, they’re saying he shot Trump.” “What? That doesn’t sound…right let me check Twitter.”
The video continues with a comedic portrayal of the agents scrambling to hide behind Trump and then leading him to the car but not being able to find it.
At this point, the video has amassed nearly 2 million views.
While a light-hearted take on the situation, Sears’ video is a reminder to keep our country and its leaders in our prayers.
Movieguide® previously reported on the attempted assassination and how President Trump believes God alone saved his life:
“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening,” Trump wrote Sunday morning. “We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness.”
On Saturday, Trump revealed that he was “shot by a bullet that pierced the upper part” of his ear at a Pennsylvania rally.
“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” he told the New York Post. “I’m supposed to be dead.”
“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” he added.
Tragically, the would-be assassin did claim the life of one rallygoer, father and firefighter Corey Comperatore.
Movieguide® reported:
He died protecting his wife and daughter, as his daughter, Allyson Comperatore, revealed on Facebook.
“He was the best dad a girl could ask for. My sister and I never needed for anything. You call, he would answer, and he would do whatever it is you needed, and if he didn’t know how he would figure out how,” she said of her dad.
