Justin Bieber shared a Bible verse on Instagram that reminds Christians to keep their eyes focused on the Lord rather than caring about what society thinks of them.
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out,” reads The Message translation of Romans 12:1-2 that Bieber shared on Instagram.

This lesson is extremely important as The Gospel is relevant to all societies at all times, meaning that certain aspects of a Christian walk are in line with culture and certain aspects are counter cultural. In fact, many of the messages throughout the Bible were radical for their time and have become less so today because more people have adopted them.
Nonetheless, Jesus warns His followers that they will face trials and persecution throughout their life because His way is hated by the world.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you,” Jesus tells His disciples in John 15: 18-19.
It’s powerful that Bieber, who has had his fair share of living for the world, would share this message. He chased fame, money and glory, but found them to be empty. By turning to the Lord, though, he has found new life full of purpose, which he continues to dive deeper into as he faces the demons from his past actions.
“Grateful for a new day. Grateful for Jesus. He meets me every morning with forgiveness and love that I truly don’t deserve,” Bieber wrote in August. “So grateful that He gives this love so freely, so graciously. Wouldn’t be able to get through the day without His love. It meets me at my lowest.”
Bieber has also committed his family to serving the Lord, with he and his wife, Hailey, dedicating their son to Jesus in March.
It truly is amazing how the Lord has shown up in Bieber’s life and re-writes a story that was following an all too predictable path. Please pray for Bieber as he continues to boldly share his faith with the public and testify the gospel to his nearly 300 million followers on Instagram.
