Kansas City Chiefs Get Hallmark Christmas Movie
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark are joining forces to create a holiday movie the whole family can enjoy.
“While the Chiefs are on their quest to three-peat, Kansas City fans may see an appearance from a Lombardi Trophy or perhaps two later this winter,” the NFL teased.
HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A CHIEFS LOVE STORY will start production beginning in July and is expected to be ready by Christmas.
The movie “will star actors Tyler Hynes, Hunter King and Ed Begley Jr. The movie is about a woman named Alana, played by King, who hails from a family of Chiefs fans and strikes up a relationship with Derrick (Hynes), the director of fan engagement for the team,” TODAY.com reported.
The Chiefs shared that the movie “will film entirely in Kansas City, Missouri locations, including the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, marking the first time the loudest stadium in the world has been used as a filming location in a Hallmark movie.”
Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer of Hallmark, said, “With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations.”
“By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way,” he continued.
Chiefs President, Mark Donovan, added, “We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this.”
“As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences,” he said. “This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Chiefs owner Clark Hunt following the team’s 2024 Super Bowl win:
Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt thanked God during his third Lombardi Trophy acceptance speech and fourth appearance at the Super Bowl in five years.
“It’s been an amazing five-year run,” Hunt said onstage after the game. “I want to thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity.”
The epic championship match between the Chiefs and the 49ers was the most-watched football game of all time, requiring overtime to determine a winner. After the 49ers kicked a field goal on their opening drive of overtime, the Chiefs responded with a 13-play drive that resulted in a 3-yard pass for the season-ending touchdown.
By winning this year’s game, the Chiefs are the first team to win back-to-back titles since the Patriots did it in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and are the ninth team to do so in the NFL’s 104-year history.
