Kathie Lee Gifford Reminds Us Only God ‘Knows Where The Sustenance Is’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kathie Lee Gifford recently shared how a trip to Israel shed new light on Psalm 23.

“What I learned from being in Israel…is how rich Psalm 23 [He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters] is,” Gifford said in a FaithGateway video with Joanne Moody.

Gifford said, “When you’re there, it’s desolate. You don’t see — where are these beautiful pastures? There are no pastures. But right at sunset, you see the sun hit, and you see glimmers. You can see glimmers.”

“And our teacher said to us, ‘Those are the [pastures].’ That’s all the sheep had. And only the shepherd knows where the sustenance is. And the paths of righteousness are what they call the ancient paths that they took, and you can see them cutting in the valley. It made so much sense,” she concluded.

The video’s caption reads, “Our Shepherd knows where the sustenance is. He knows how we can survive in this season. Trusting in Him is key… are you doing that?”

FaithGateway “is an online community for readers to discover great content and engage with their favorite Christian authors,” and is dedicated to helping people grow and share their faith, per its website.

Gifford has partnered with the company before, like for her series with Rabbi Jason Sobel. According to FaithGateway’s website, “The God of the How and When” series “tell[s] the stories of five people in Scripture — Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Joshua, and Mary, the mother of Jesus — who also wondered how and when God would come through for them. Each of them had to step out in faith and obey God without knowing the details of what would happen in their story.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Gifford and Sobel’s video series:

In a recent episode of Kathie Lee Gifford’s GOD OF THE HOW AND WHEN video series, she sat down with Rabbi Jason Sobel, who shared his thoughts on God’s timing.

“God’s timing often trips us up because his timing is not our timing,” Sobel explained. “But the good news is that those who wait upon the Lord are never left wanting. If we wait for the Lord, we’ll never be left wanting, and that’s the promise we have in Isaiah.”

He then cited Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Sobel concluded, “It’s not easy. Waiting is not easy, but it’s always worth it.”
