Korie Robertson shared how her family has endured the intense winter storm that hit their state and left them without power for multiple days.

“We’ve never experienced anything like this ice storm here in Louisiana. I know the storms have hit so many around the country, so here’s a little update from our neck of the woods,” Robertson began her Instagram post. “We’re on day three with no power. Thankfully, we still have water and a generator at Miss Kay’s house. She’s staying warm and well-fed thanks to the family! My parents and grandmother are keeping warm by the fire, cooking on their gas stove, and playing Scrabble.”

“I’m so thankful to be married to @realwilliebosshog, and to have sons and sons-in-law who know how to take care of us, survive, and keep us all alive. Truly so grateful. Everyone is hunkering down and helping wherever they can. Willie went for gas and said there were so many people offering to help. It’s beautiful to see how a disaster can bring people together…” she continued.

“I’m thankful for homes full of people. Thankful for kids laughing, playing, and enjoying the beauty around us,” Robertson added. “They’re making sweet memories and don’t even seem to notice that we have no lights and the house is 45 degrees! We were saying this morning that they’ll remember the ice storm of 2026, and I hope their memories are of love and warmth, books by the fire, daddies shoveling snow, and aunts and uncles sledding and laughing. ♥️”

Alongside the post, she included photos of her grandchildren playing in the snow and snaps of the wintery landscape.

The monster ice storm that hit Louisiana and multiple other southern states has had a major impact on those communities with hundreds of thousands of customers still without power days later.

Other parts of the country saw similarly devastating impacts as wind chills reached as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Many places saw immense snow as well, with New York City’s Central Park, for example, receiving over 11 inches.

I think there are two parts of this storm that make it unique. One is just a broad expanse of spatial coverage of this event…You’ve got 2,000 miles of country that’s being impacted by the storm with snow, sleet and freezing rain,” said Josh Weiss, a meteorologist at NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center. “The other part of this storm that’s really impressive is what’s going to happen right afterward. We’re looking at extreme cold, record cold.”

As communities around the country work to recover from this incredible storm, it is nice to know that families like the Robertsons are making the most of it and making life-long memories.
