LA Rams Wild Card Game Relocated Due to Fires

As fires rage in LA communities, the Los Angeles Rams explained why they are committed to their community even though their NFC West Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings has moved to Arizona.
“In the interest of public safety, Monday’s Wild Card game has been moved to Arizona,” the team announced Thursday evening.
“The decision was made in consultation with public officials, the participating clubs and the NFLPA,” the NFL said in a statement.
“The game will be televised on ESPN, ABC, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes at its scheduled 8:00 p.m. ET time. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. PT Friday morning through Seatgeek.com for Rams Season Ticket Members and Noon PT to the general public. More information on ticket sales will be provided as soon as possible.”

The game will now be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, “the home of the Rams’ NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals,” per CBS Sports.
Initially, the team signaled to fans that the game would still be hosted at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
“We’re the Los Angeles Rams. We play for the people in this community,” quarterback Matthew Stafford told FOX Sports, commenting last week on the NFL’s suggestion that the game could relocate to Arizona. “This week will be another example of that…Hopefully (it will be) a great escape for people who have been going through tough times.”
However, as of when the call to relocate was made, fires in the greater LA area were still burning.
“At least five fires were active in Los Angeles County, devastating more than 40 square miles across the region, according to Cal Fire. Tens of thousands of Los Angeles County residents have been forced to evacuate their homes,” USA Today reported.
