Christian celebrities are asking fans for prayers as wildfires ravage communities around Los Angeles.
“Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires,” actor Chris Pratt posted on Instagram Jan. 7. “Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate.”
“Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage,” he added along with photos of the fire. “Let’s all come together to support one another during this tough time.”
“Jesus protect the lives of those battling the flames and the lives of those who couldn’t evacuate,” Pratt added on X.
NPR reported that the fires began Tuesday morning, adding that at least two people have been killed and more than 1,000 structures have been destroyed.
“Tens of thousands have already evacuated their homes in Los Angeles County — some of them on foot — after fires erupted near residential areas. The largest fires — the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst — continue to expand, triggering a cascade of evacuation orders and school closures,” the outlet added.
As of this morning, “The Palisades Fire has spread to 5,000 acres with 0% of the fire contained,” while “The Eaton Fire — which broke out miles away from the Palisades Fire, in Altadena, California — had grown to 2,227 acres with 0% containment,” ABC reported.
Candace Cameron Bure posted an update this morning along with a photo she took of the fires.
“Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Sylmar and Sepulveda pass are still burning. I woke up to the same flames. Our sweet Palisades is destroyed. So many memories,” she said. “We are praying God pours rain down on Los Angeles. Thank you firefighters and first responders for everything you’re doing to keep people safe and fight these fires. You are true heros. So many memories.”
Her daughter Natasha reposted another one of her mom’s posts on her Instagram story, writing, “Please PRAY for the safety of everyone in the Palisades. This entire city has been completely overtake by the fires.”
GAF star Danica McKellar offered her prayers as well.
“Praying for our friends and family who have been evacuated from the Pacific Palisades (about 15 min from where I grew up),” she posted on her Instagram story. “Some have already lost their homes…I’m praying that everyone in the area gets out safe!…And please join me in praying for the safety and success of the fire fighters and first responder…and that this fire is contained soon.”
Fox News reported, “Authorities emphasized at the Wednesday press conference that Los Angeles is ‘not out of danger yet,’ citing high winds that continue to spread the flames. Firefighters successfully contained a fifth wildfire in Tyler, California, but four blazes remain surrounding Los Angeles in the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst and Woodley.”
Please keep those affected by the wildfires in your prayers.
