Comedian Leanne Morgan is officially coming to Netflix this summer with new sitcom LEANNE.
“PINCH ME!!! Y’all I cannot believe this is real,” she posted on Instagram. “I am so excited to officially announce my new sitcom LEANNE is premiering July 31st on @netflix!!! This is a dream come true.”
Per Deadline, LEANNE “follows Leanne (Morgan), whose life is upended when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family, she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”
The cast includes Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Morgan revealed that co-creator Chuck Lorre visited her in Knoxville to get inspiration for LEANNE.

“When he came to my home in Knoxville to learn more about me and my family for inspiration for the show I had to pinch myself,” she said. “To make my very first television series with a titan of the industry taught me something new every day and I’m so honored to work with him.”
Morgan added, “The show isn’t based on my life — I’m still happily married to my Chuck Morgan! — but it is inspired by it. I’m excited to share more about myself and where I come from with viewers, and I can’t wait for y’all to see the incredible cast they’ve paired me with.”
The stand-up comedian previously spoke about her excitement for the sitcom in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’ve dreamed of this since childhood, and I can’t believe it has come true! When I started comedy 25 years ago, my goal was to be a part of a sitcom,” Morgan said. “It just goes to show you it’s never too late, and dreams do come true. I’m a grandmama from Tennessee, and now I have a TV show with Chuck Lorre and Netflix. What in the world!?”
Lorre added, “If you’ve seen even 10 seconds of Leanne Morgan’s stand-up then you know what a unique comedic force she is. The theme of starting over is universal, and I cannot think of anyone better to combine heart and comedy than Leanne. I knew I had to work with her, and I’m so excited to bring this story to Netflix.”
Fans of Morgan’s comedy can’t wait for LEANNE to hit Netflix. The sitcom premieres July 31.
