Production has officially begun on Season 2 of LEANNE!
“It’s a family reunion!!” comedian and star Leanne Morgan posted on X. “I am SO thrilled to to be back on set in LA filming SEASON 2 of LEANNE!! Y’all made this happen and I can’t wait to share it with you!!”
Morgan also posted a photo of herself and co-star Kristen Johnston, who plays Morgan’s sister.

LEANNE was renewed by Netflix shortly after its premiere; no surprise, seeing as how it was a favorite with fans and critics and landed in the streaming service’s Global Top 10.
“We’re coming back for a second season!” Morgan said in a statement at the time. “I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”
Chuck Lorre, LEANNE’S co-creator and executive producer, added “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”
Along with Morgan and Johnston, stars Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers and Hannah Pilkes are all expected to return for Season 2.
In an interview with TV Insider, Morgan revealed what she hopes to see for her character in Season 2.
“Whether it’s romantic or a job, you know, she’s tended to her family all of her life, put everybody else first, I want people to see what she’s gonna do,” the stand-up comedian shared.
Johnston added, “It’s just the first season, it’s really setting everything up. If we get to go another season, I think there will be some really big payoffs that we’ve heard rumors about, but we’ll see.”
Executive producer Nick Bakay teased that the creative team has “some things up [their] sleeve” for Season 2, adding, “Certainly, the course of the first season tees up a lot. But you have to get back in the room and start rolling up your sleeves and kind of start from scratch.”
There’s no word yet on when Season 2 of LEANNE will hit Netflix, but fans of the show are anxiously awaiting the new episodes!
