Mario Lopez to Headline Great American Christmas 2024

SAVED BY THE BELL star Mario Lopez is joining Great American Family for Christmas 2024.
The company announced in a press release Tuesday:
Great American Media announced it has signed Emmy® Award winning host and actor, Mario Lopez to a multi-picture, multi-year deal to star in content across the company’s vast media portfolio which includes linear networks Great American Family, Great American Faith & Living, Great American Pure Flix, Great American Adventures, and digital channel, Great American Faith & Home, with a focus to showcase diverse talent in front of the camera. Broader terms of the deal are not disclosed.
With nearly forty years of experience behind the screen and as a NYT Best Seller and producer, GAF is proud to have him join the family.
“The former SAVED BY THE BELL heartthrob is set to play a ‘major part’ in Great American Christmas this October, according to the network, which is also home to fellow former ’90s TV teen dreams Danica McKellar and Candace Cameron Bure,” Entertainment Weekly reported. “Lopez’s first project will be a holiday film in which he’ll star alongside wife and Broadway star Courtney Lopez.”

If you feel like Netflix doesn’t have enough family-appropriate content options, you may be happy to know that Mario Lopez is hoping to change that. The TV host and actor has plans to create a new family comedy series called EXPANDING THE UNIVERSE OF ASHLEY GARCIA for the streaming service.
The premise of the show centers on Ashley (played by Paulina Chavez) a 15-year-old rocket-scientist and robotics engineer who receives a once and a lifetime opportunity to work for NASA. Ashley must move across the country to do so and live with her uncle who’s a pro-football player turned high school coach (played by Jencarlos Canela of TELENOVELA)…
Lopez expressed his optimism about the series to Variety, “I am excited for the opportunity to partner with Netflix to tell a universal, family-friendly story with a Latin flavor!”
