A new Great American Christmas movie, titled CHRISTMAS AT THE STARLIGHT, will see two legendary performers, Tony Danza and Mario Lopez, join forces to create the special family-friendly story.
“Set in a close-knit American town, CHRISTMAS AT THE STARLIGHT centers on The Starlight, a beloved local supper club and longtime community gathering place where generations have come together to celebrate music, family, and Christmas traditions. Frank (Danza), a legendary song-and-dance man, prepares to sell the family’s beloved restaurant lounge after 40 years,” a synopsis reads.
It continues, “With the future of The Starlight in question, three generations of family are drawn into an emotional journey that reminds them what is worth preserving — and how faith, family, and home can quietly lead us back to where we belong.”

Dominic Lopez, Lopez’s 12-year-old son, will star alongside his dad and Danza.
“Working with Tony Danza as my father in this story is incredibly special, and having Dominic play my son makes it even more personal,” Lopez said. “CHRISTMAS AT THE STARLIGHT is about family, honoring where you come from, and recognizing the traditions and people that shape your life…I’m proud to be part of a movie that celebrates those values in such a heartfelt way.”
In an interview posted to Instagram, Lopez shared more about his love for Danza and how much they have in common.
“Full disclosure, Tony and I happen to be friends, but I was a huge fan first and foremost…Moreso because of his acting, because we are both so similar. We both has immigrant fathers that come from working class, no-nonsense dads,” he said. “Grew up wrestling, grew up boxing, got into song and dance later, got into acting, been on Broadway with this and that.”
Lopez continued, “So I wanted to just kind of break the news right here. Tony and I are finally gonna be working together. We’re doing a holiday film. He’s gonna play my dad. My real-life son Dominic is gonna be the grandson. So there’s going to be three generations living in a house with a little song and dance.”
Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media, said, “Mario Lopez, Tony Danza, and Dominic Lopez create a remarkable generational throughline for CHRISTMAS AT THE STARLIGHT. At its heart, this film is about legacy — the lessons passed from father to son, the traditions that anchor families, and the cherished places where memories become part of who we are. Bringing Mario and Tony together as father and son, with Dominic continuing that lineage on screen, gives this story a rare authenticity and emotional resonance that perfectly reflects the spirit of Great American Christmas.”
Stay tuned for this and other family-friendly Christmas movies this upcoming holiday season on Great American Family.
