Mark Wahlberg Inspires High School Football Team: ‘Build Each Other Up’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor Mark Wahlberg recently encouraged a high school football team, sharing the importance of hard work and the value of supporting each other.
“You guys are so blessed and so fortunate,” he told the team. “I know it’s tough out there. There’s a lot of temptation right out those doors, but you’re inside these doors with these guys.”
In a video posted to Wahlberg’s Instagram, the actor joins Bergen Catholic football team to share his message with them.
“Build each up, help each other out and work hard,” he encouraged them.
“You have all the opportunity in the world. You got to decide what you’re going to do with it and what you’re gonna make of it,” he continued.

“It was an awesome message,” Bergen Catholic coach Vito Campanile said. “I think it’s great that our guys got to hear a message from someone in another genre of life, someone who is successful and hear him talking about his focus on being elite at what he does,” MSM reported.
“Oh yeah, they were wowed by him,” the coach added. “Some of them might have just known him from [the movie] DADDY’S HOME instead of [Wahlberg’s band] the Funky Bunch.”
Wahlberg understands the importance of surrounding yourself with people who can keep you on the right path after landing in trouble in his early life. Seeing him use his platform to impact young people and help them live better lives is encouraging.

Jesus captured Mark Wahlberg’s heart after the INSTANT FAMILY actor landed in prison in 1988.
“I had a lot of time to myself and most of that time I spent running around the streets getting a street education. I left school at an early age. I quit school at 13. I ended up getting into a lot of trouble being incarcerated, tried as an adult at 16, 17 and that was a big wake-up call for me,” Wahlberg told a priest.
Then Wahlberg made a substantial change while behind bars.
