HOUSE OF DAVID star Michael Iskander is blessed to be part of Prime Video’s newest hit biblical drama and credits the show’s success to God.
“It’s a blessing,” Iskander told Crosswalk Headlines. “And ultimately, the success of the show is the work of the Holy Spirit. So, I’m just thankful to Him, and I’m thankful to all the amazing people that work on the show, and the Jons and every single member of the crew and the cast.”
He added, “I mean, we struck gold with everybody working on the show, so it’s a blessing, and it’s an honor to get to tell the story.”
The logline for the show reads, “HOUSE OF DAVID tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who becomes the most celebrated king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As one leader falls, another must rise.”
Iskander continued, telling Crosswalk, “I remember when I got the audition, and I told my mom — and she said to me, ‘You better start fasting and praying now.’ And so I guess that kind of gives you a sense of how much my faith played into David.”
For Iskander and the rest of the HOUSE OF DAVID cast and crew, working on the series more than just a job. It is a spiritual calling which they take very seriously.
“There’s not a day that goes by without prayer or without Scripture,” he explained. “And ultimately, this is a story about God. It’s not about David. I try to put God in everything that I can, and to tell his story. I grew up with the story of David.”
The show doesn’t come without challenges, though, so Iskander works carefully to represent David in the truest way possible.
“I just wanted to focus on doing the story [of David] justice and doing David justice, and really being able to kind of honor this man who was known as [a man] after God’s own heart. And it’s a challenge,” Iskander said. “It takes immense prayer and immense conversations on set.”

Though Season 1 debuted just a few months ago, Season 2 has already wrapped filming. Iskander took to Instagram to share about the experience.
“My heart is so full, and my spirit is filled with joy,” he wrote on Instagram. “Today we wrapped filming on Season 2 of HOUSE OF DAVID. And oh, what a journey it has been. I cannot wait for you to see this season. And I’m humbled to be working alongside the most dedicated and loving people in the business.”
He shared that the next season will show “a man yearning for God” and “growing into himself, and his relationship with the Lord.”
The release date for Season 2 of HOUSE OF DAVID has not yet been announced, but some outlets speculate that it might release in 2026. Stay tuned for details.
