In a surprise announcement, Wilmer Valderrama and Austin Stowell revealed their shows — NCIS and NCIS: ORIGINS, respectively — will get a crossover event this fall as they both tackle a case that “spans decades.”
“I am Wilmer Valderrama from NCIS coming to you from present day.”
“And I’m Austin Stowell from NCIS: ORIGINS coming to you from the ’90s,” the duo said in an announcement video.

“Join us Tuesday, November 11 for an NCIS crossover event like no other. The goal is to resolve a case that spans decades. The NCIS crossover event starts with NCIS: ORIGINS at 8/7 central, followed by NCIS at 9/8 central on CBS on Tuesday, November 11 and streaming on Paramount+.”
While NCIS has often seen crossovers between in the past, the roughly 30-year time difference between the shows makes this crossover particularly surprising. However, the solving the same case over the decades will cleverly make it happen.
The crossover gives fans a lot to look forward to in November, but for now, they are eagerly awaiting the season premiere of both shows on Oct. 14 after both left fans with big questions. For ORIGINS, viewers are on their toes to find out if Special Agent LaLa Dominguez survived her accident, and on the flagship show, Alden Parker is trying to bring his dad’s killer to justice — while juggling family dynamics as his sister joins the investigation.
“We definitely had a lot of discussions in the writer’s room about how we wanted to end the [first] season [of NCIS: ORIGINS],” co-showrunner David J. North told Deadline last April when discussing LaLa Dominguez’s fate. “I don’t know that I would necessarily say we always looked at it as how are we going to take out Cecilia? That’s an interesting way to put it. But we definitely had a lot of discussions about how we wanted to end the season. And at the end of the day, Gina and I like to tell stories that seem to be honest and true to us.”
“I think everyone has had these experiences where you wake up one morning, and life’s ho-humming along and then all of a sudden something unthinkable happens,” he continued. “And lives are constantly colliding, and that was the theme of the beautiful finale that Gina wrote. In the end, this is sort of just where the story took us.”
Fans can catch NCIS, NCIS: ORIGINS and NCIS: SYDNEY on Tuesday nights on CBS starting on Oct. 14.
