New Christmas Classic Keeps Holiday Spirit Alive at Box Office

Dallas Jenkins’ THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER keeps scoring at the box office.
“…the heartwarming adaptation of Barbara Robinson’s beloved holiday tale has been a huge hit with audiences looking for the warm and fuzzies in the colder months, bringing in an estimated $4.85 million this Thanksgiving weekend across 1,779 locations, which brings its domestic total to a heavenly $32 million,” Collider reported. “The movie stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, and Molly Belle Wright, while GILMORE GIRLS legend Lauren Graham serves as the narrator of the movie with her usual warmth and quick wit.”
Fans and critics alike have shown the movie love, with several outlets calling it “heartwarming,” “smart,” “important” and “well-crafted.”
Variety called it a “…diversion for the whole family that’s already done well…and will surely prove a perennial for Yuletide seasons to come.”
The Wrap said the movie “stands out” among the slurry of Christmas flicks that release each year.
“It’s one of the best holiday movies in a long time, an intelligent and thoughtful film about the true meaning of Christmas and how easy it is for anyone — even true believers — to get caught up in the superficial trappings and lose sight of why it’s important,” the outlet said.
Movieguide® praised the “powerful, emotional, fun movie,” saying “It will have viewers laughing, crying and feeling the warmth of the Christmas spirit.”

It extols Jesus, who transforms your life, love thy neighbor, and the true meaning of Christmas. There are some light profanities, but they’re rebuked. Also, the main message in THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER is anyone can experience God’s love and be transformed into a better person when they follow Jesus.
Despite the acclaim and box office success, Jenkins sees the project as the culmination of his biggest Hollywood dreams.
“Getting this movie made was the primary victory for me after almost 20 years of chasing the rights,” the director revealed. “But the reviews, the audience response and the box office results made this experience especially sweet.”
