Patricia Heaton doesn’t always wake up on the right side of the bed — like the rest of us. But when that happens, she intentionally grounds herself with gratitude.
After she woke up on Tuesday feeling frustrated and dissatisfied, she started to thank God for simple things.
“I started out just thanking God,” she explained in an Instagram video, “for all the birds I could hear singing and then thanking him for the gorgeous trees that were around me and then I prayed for my boys and went home, had a little scrap with hubs — which after 36 years is normal and you just get through it — and then had a phone which could have gone really wrong but it went really right.”
Now, she says she feels much better.
“Thank you, Jesus,” she added. If “you’re feeling rough today, start with the birds and end up with Him.”
She added in the caption, “Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” And “Isaiah 26:3 Thou will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee!”
When Heaton went on the “Jesus Calling” podcast, she said, “I’m always talking to God, though, for my whole life. All my conversation is with the Lord. You just have to live in the love that God has for you and remind yourself constantly of that love that He has for you.”
“You only have the moment that you’re in, and that’s true for anybody in your life. What is it that God wants you to be doing in that moment and how can you just be authentically present to someone—be loving, be open, do your work, but also be open to whatever else God has you in that moment for?”
The EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND star also decided to visit Israel in 2024 after feeling motivated by her beliefs.
“My faith is what’s propelled me here,” Heaton said of her visit. “It’s not about finding religion again. It’s about being faithful to God and standing up for truth, for morality, for civilization.”
“The warmth of the people was overwhelming,” she recalled. “Everything you read in the media is often the opposite of what Israel really is. Despite the loss, the horror, the attacks, there is joy, optimism, people looking for peace.”
It is great to know that stars like Heaton incorporate their faith into their everyday plans and practices.
