The last time Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson faced the Chicago Bears, he tore his ACL on a non-contact play.
Nearly one year later, Watson faced the Bears again and was a large part of the Packers’ 28-21 victory.
According to Sports Spectrum, the athlete secured the first touchdown for the Packers. In the second quarter, Watson “found a soft spot in Chicago’s secondary, quarterback Jordan Love lofted a pass, and Watson brought it in and stretched over the goal line for the 23-yard score.”

Watson went on to score again in the third quarter as he “caught a short third-down pass over the middle and then won a footrace to the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown,” Sports Spectrum said.
He ended the night with “four receptions for a season-high 89 yards and the two touchdowns. He now has five scores in his past four contests.”
After the game, Watson was asked what it was like to play the Bears one year after his season-ending injury.
“It means a lot to me, for sure,” the wide receiver said in a post-game interview. “Honestly, I tried not to think about it that much, but as the game was kind of getting going, it was definitely creeping in my mind a little bit. I’m just so thankful and blessed to be able to do what I do, and I’m glad that today panned out how it did, for sure.”
Throughout his recovery last year, Watson leaned heavily on his faith in God.
He often shared that faith on his Instagram page and features Psalm 23:4 in his bio. The verse reads, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Shortly after the injury last season, Watson posted John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
In August, Watson told the media, “[Football is] a tough sport, a lot on the body, but I’m just grateful for where I’m at, regardless of the situation. Appreciative of that. I always kind of fall back on that, embracing God’s plan.”
The Packers look to be a tough team to beat with Watson fully back in the line-up. As they head into the final stretch of the season, Watson looks to add to his impressive performance from Sunday.
