Season 2 of Paramount’s FRAISER reboot is on its way, and star Kelsey Grammer will be joined by another iconic sitcom face.
Patricia Heaton, best known for her role in the sitcom EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, will join the cast as Frasier’s new love interest.
Deadline reported, “She will play Holly who is down-to-earth, unpretentious, and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier (Grammer) finds as alien as he does attractive.”
FRAISER will reunite Grammer and Heaton. They previously starred in the short-lived sitcom BACK TO YOU, which ran for one season on Fox in 2007-08.
Heaton has received several awards, including a Daytime Emmy for her Food Network series PATRICIA HEATON PARTIES, as well as two Primetime Emmys for EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND.
In an Instagram post, Heaton announced her excitement for the new role.
“The news is out! I am so excited to join the @frasier family on @paramountplus!” she said.
Fans responded with excitement as well.
“Amazing! I loved that show growing up!” one user said. “Love the show and yay now even more with you!” another person commented.
Movieguide® previously reported on the Frasier reboot:
The new series will premiere October 12 on the streaming service with two episodes. The rest of the 10-episode series will air each Thursday. The first two episodes will also air on CBS on October 17.
“The new series follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill,” a press release about the reboot reads. “Frasier has re-entered the building!”
Along with Grammer, Peri Gilpin and Bebe Neuwirth will return, reprising their roles as Roz and Lilith, respectively.
“Niles [Crane] and Daphne [Moon] are not coming back,” Grammar told TODAY of two fan-favorite characters. “If there is a spot for a one-off appearance, and they’re interested, I’m sure we would do something like that. But, it’s a new world. It’s a new life. Frasier’s going back to Boston to put himself back in a place where he didn’t feel like he quite made it.”
