PHINEAS AND FERB Gets a Reboot, and Its Creators Are So Excited

A PHINEAS AND FERB reboot is well in the works, and the creators, Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, shared a first look at the show and their feelings about how it’s turning out.

The sneak peek showed a rough version of the show’s musical title screen which featured a new theme song titled, “Summer Starts Now.” Nearly every main character returned for the new season which the song implied will take place a year after the end of Season 4 — at the start of a new summer vacation.

“It feels like the show, it has this energy of the [original] show but it also sort of feels like it is elevated in some ways,” Povenmire said during a D23 panel. “We just have a lot more energy because we’ve had a break from it.”

“Eight or nine episodes of this season alone will be some people’s favorite episodes of all time,” he added.

Along with the break, this boost in creativity and energy can also be attributed to changes in the show’s writing team. The group is split between returning writers from the original series and new writers who grew up watching the show. Among this group is Olivia Olson, the voice of Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s daughter.

Returning cast members include Vincent Martella (Phineas), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Ferb), Ashely Tisdale (Candace), Dan Povenire (Dr. Doofenschmirtz), Jeff Marsh (Major Monogram), Alyson Stoner (Isabella), Maulik Pancholy (Baljeet) and more.

PHINEAS AND FERB is one of Disney Channel’s most successful shows of all time. It built a generation of fans and won multiple Emmys along the way. The series has also spawned two movies.

The reboot has already been approved for two seasons. It currently has no set release date.
