How This Actress Lets God Direct Her Decisions Instead of Anxiety

THE FORGE star Priscilla Shirer doesn’t let her anxiety or insecurity control her. Instead, she lets God lead her steps.

“When I’m about to make a decision, I pause enough to say, ‘Is this decision rooted in insecurity?’ Shirer shared on TBN. “’Am I about to post that, tweet that, insert myself in that? Am I about to choose that path or accept that invitation because I’m anxious about something? Because I feel inadequate? Because I want their approval?’ If I find when I look in the mirror at myself that that’s why I’m doing it, then I say, ‘God, give me by your spirit the restraint not to let myself keep acting out of those lies.’”

“Then I remind myself if I believe I’m chosen and accepted and that I’m already significant in Christ, what decision will I make out of that place of truth instead of making those decisions out of the lies? So practically, what it means is you start behaving in a way that is in alignment with the truth whether you feel like it or not,” she explained.

Alignment in truth is synonymous with obedience to God’s instructions.

“That’s what it means to walk by the spirit and not by the flesh,” she finished.

Priscilla Shirer, an actress and author known for her roles in WAR ROOM and OVERCOMER, appeared on PRAISE to discuss her book, “Discerning the Voice of God: How to Recognize When God Speaks”…

Shirer has written over thirty spiritual books. Her latest book, “I Surrender All,” just came out in August.

“In ‘I Surrender All,’ Shirer calls readers to radically follow Christ, encouraging them to not fear what it might cost them but rather to fear what they would be missing if they withheld anything from Him,” Biblical Recorder reported.

“It’s one thing to be a Christian, to have accepted His gift of salvation. It’s another thing to decide to be His disciple,” Shirer said. “One is a free gift, and the other one comes at a cost. It requires surrender.”

Shirer recently starred in the Kendrick Brothers’ movie, THE FORGE. The movie is all about the importance of discipleship, which Shirer says comes at a high price.

“You can be a believer [in Jesus] and not be a disciple because discipleship comes at a high cost — it’s about surrendering everything to Jesus,” she said, adding that the realization might jar some viewers. “I think it is going to shake a lot of people awake when they see the movie.”
