Faith-based filmmakers, strategic advisory groups, and key church networks were blessed by the presence of Dr. Ted Baehr for an inspiring week of meetings and events in Sydney, Australia. Across this visit, Dr. Baehr engaged with a broad spectrum of voices from the next generation of aspiring filmmakers to seasoned industry professionals offering wisdom, encouragement, and practical strategies for advancing a thriving faith-based film industry, looking to Hollywood as the example.
From radio interviews at Hope 103.2 and Excelsia University College with Reel Dialogue, to events at Waterloo Studios, participants were challenged to embrace their unique calling in shaping culture through storytelling. On all occasions, Dr. Baehr emphasized the dual importance of artistic excellence and moral responsibility in film and media. Discussions highlighted not only the critical question for Christian families, “What should we watch tonight?” but also the undeniable cultural and financial success of family-friendly films at the global box office.
Drawing on decades of experience working with major Hollywood studios, Dr. Baehr unpacked the core principles behind creating movies that resonate with audiences while reflecting biblical truth. He spoke with profound insight about the need for filmmakers to build stories upon a rich ontological framework beginning with a premise of depth and meaning, ensuring that every narrative moves beyond surface-level entertainment to deliver redemption and transformation.

Wonderful blessings in Sydney Australia

Recently, I came back from my annual trip to Australia. One reason for that was to visit my son and his family at their beautiful mountain top youth hostel in Tasmania, Australia.
After Tasmania, I went to Sydney Australia thanks to one of our friends there, Dean; I had four days of speaking, teaching, meeting, interviews and blessings in Sydney.
First of all, Dean’s associate Cam Lyon was incredibly gracious organizing these meetings and providing transportation.
On Monday of that week, I spent the morning teaching students and alumni at the Excelsia University College and the Ecclesia. These students were wonderful and bright, but they needed help in understanding how to write, produce and market movies and entertainment that will reach millions of people.
Then, I had a meeting with a couple Craig and Amanda Giles that are starting a film studio in the central coast called Central Coast Studios and Films.
Finally, a great dinner meeting with filmmakers and selected others, where I was able once more to explain how to succeed in the entertainment industry.
The next day on Tuesday, Ben McEachen interviewed me for a half hour about Hollywood on what’s good, what’s bad and how to be discerning. Then, I had a wonderful lunch and time with one of my favorite students from my HOW TO SUCCEED IN HOLLYWOOD (WITHOUT LOSING YOUR SOUL) Master- class Jason Blaiklock. Finally, went to stay with a good friend who’s the son of C.S. Lewis step- son, his father is the God Father of my daughter-in- law and of my oldest granddaughter.
Besides the wonderful fellowship at his beautiful home, we discussed how to influence Netflix to encourage the new version of the CHRONICLES OF NARNIA to be faithful to the book.
The next day, I got an opportunity to do a wonderful interview at Excelsia University. That night I spoke to Grace City Church on how to teach your children how to be media wise.
After that, I had a dinner with a good friend of mine who’s producing STREET FIGHER in Sydney, Australia, while at the same time he’s producing DUNE 3 in Budapest, Hungary.
The next day, I had a fabulous encouraging interview on a podcast with Former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson. Afterwards, I met with my sponsor Dean and viewed his upcoming movie, which I must say is very funny.
That evening was a very large presentation at Waterloo Studios to filmmakers all over Australia.
I’m surprised at my age that I can do all this, with only a few hours of sleep every day, but God alone gave me the energy and all that was needed to receive a great reception from each and every person whom I met.
