Robert Irwin, son of late Steve Irwin, reflected on the great memories him and his father shared in their family car.

Robert Irwin posted on his Instagram a tribute to his father who passed away in 2006. In the three-photo trilogy, Robert sat in his father’s lap as his father drove the car and Robert assisted in the first photo. The second photo showed Robert re-create the first photo with him as the solo driver as a grown man. The third photo showed Robert stand proudly in front of the car holding a big “P,” representing that he attained his provisional driver’s license.

“My dad’s ute… it’s a special car. From early memories when Dad would park and let me pretend to drive, to more recently when I took my driver’s test in it (and somehow managed not to stall it ?). I remember my first solo drive in this car after I got my license – it was to the hospital to meet my niece for the first time, right after she was born. And now, the ute still comes on road trips to this day,” Robert shared.

In a recent interview with E! News, Robert shared on the topic of his father’s legacy and what inspires him in his daily life.

“I think what dad really showed the world was, of course, to have that appreciation for the natural world and to treat every living being on this planet as you would wish to be treated,” he said. “I think that’s something that I’ll always carry with me,” Irwin shared.

In addition, Robert spoke on how his father chased after the things that were bigger than him and more important than him.

“I think that more than anything, I would hope that I really continue this message that life is short, and we have to live every day to the fullest,” he expressed.

Now, Robert works with his family at the Australia Zoo to rescue animals and conduct research. Robert shares an interest in wildlife photography often sharing his photos on his Instagram.

“We have to create as much positive change as we can for our environment and for our fellow humans as well. And just to treat one with kindness, and I think he exemplified that perfectly,” he added.

Robert concluded on how lucky he was to have a father like Steve Irwin.

“I’ll always just feel so lucky that I had the most amazing dad in the world, who was literally a superhero.”
