Rush Limbaugh Thanks Fans for Their Support in Emotional 2020 Sign-Off

By Movieguide® Staff

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh had an emotional sign-off of his 2020 show and thanked listeners ahead of the new year.

“[This is my] attempt to thank everybody in the audience, all of you, for everything you mean to me. That last call … reminds me how much I love all of you. How much I so appreciate everything you’ve meant to me and my family. You don’t have any idea,” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh said he wanted to thank his audience for their support throughout the chaos of 2020 and his Stage 4 lung cancer.

Limbaugh first announced his lung cancer diagnosis in February. In October, Limbaugh told listeners that despite some early success fighting the disease, more recent scans show the cancer was “going in the wrong direction.”

Limbaugh signed off the day before Christmas Eve.

“So many people think this program has changed their lives for the better. You have no idea how much you’ve meant to me and my family,” Limbaugh said. “The day is going to come, folks, where I’m not going to be able to do this. I don’t know when that is. I want to be able to do it for as long as I want to do it, but the day will come where I’m not going to be able to, and I want you to understand that even when the day comes, I’d like to be here.”

Limbaugh maintained that in the meantime, his heart is full of gratitude and that he wants to let his listeners know they are appreciated.

“Because I have this sense of needing to constantly show my appreciation for all that you have done and meant to me,” Limbaugh said.

“So, I hope you all have a great Christmas, a great New Year, and I hope that the things that are in store for all of us in the coming year are certainly better than what we’ve endured in 2020.”

The host wished everyone a “Merry Christmas” and a better 2021.

“I don’t know too many people that have enjoyed 2020, probably some sickos out there who have, but 2021 has to be better,” Limbaugh said. “We’re going to try to make it that way here at the EIB Network. Again, folks, thank you so much. I wish there were a way to say it other than thank you. You’re just the best. My family is just the best. Thank you. Merry Christmas, everybody!”
