Sadie Robertson Huff Talks ‘The Power of Being Planted’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Media personality and Christian speaker Sadie Robertson Huff is sharing her latest discovery from Psalms 1, “the power of being planted.”

“So Psalms 1: 1-4 says this: ‘Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night,’” Huff shared on her podcast Monday. “He is like a tree planted by a stream of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither and all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so but they are like chaff that the wind drives away.’”

“I love how it starts ‘But blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of the sinners nor sits in the seat of the scoffers,’ and I love just, like, the process that it represented,” she said. “It’s like, okay, like, I’m walking, you know, with the sinners. It’s kind of like, yeah, I’m casually just hanging out with the sinners.”

“I’m casually just hanging out with the wicked. With the things not of the Lord. It’s kind of this casual thing, and then it says, ‘nor stands in the way of the sinners.’ So now it’s like, okay, I’m not just walking. It’s not just casual. I’m actually kind of standing here.”

“I’m kind of planting myself to be a part of it, and then it goes even further, like ‘nor sit in the seat of the scoffer.’ So it’s kind of this casual, slow fade of, like, man, you know I’m hanging with the sinners. I’m standing with the sinners,” she explained.

The person who sits with sinners is in complete dissimilarity to the person who follows God.

“I’m planted in this space and then it gives this completely contrasted person whose actual delight is in the law of the Lord, who’s constantly meditating, who’s constantly focusing on the things of the Lord, not the things of the wicked, not the things of the sinners, and then it talks about being planted in that space. So it’s kind of giving this idea of, like, don’t settle in the space of the wicked. Settle in the meditation on the word of God.”

Huff believes the message shows the power of being “planted.”

“Either way that you’re planted, there is power…There is power in being planted in the things that are wicked and not of God and that can be a powerful way to destruction. That can be a powerful grip on your life but there is also incredible power in being planted in the things of God so wherever you’re planted, just know you might just think, ‘Oh, it’s just casual, I’m just chilling.’ Know wherever you plant, wherever you know, make your mark. It’s having power one way or the other,” she said.

So, whether you’re trying to or not, you’re becoming planted in something. Make sure it’s something good.

Earlier this year, Huff gave a speech at Liberty University. She spoke about how it’s important to follow moral and Biblical convictions.

“Compromise is something that no one else calls you out for or sees, but God sees,” Huff said. “Only you know the conviction of your heart, and only you can follow that.”

“Compromise offers a temporary satisfaction, but God offers eternal hope,” she said.

In April, she spoke at another school, the University of Mount Olive, where she gave a “powerful” message on faith.

“You see, sometimes you have to show up to the place in the mountain to see God is the provider that He will be. In life, we often want to know everything that we are stepping into,” she said. “However, faith is having confidence in the things that we hope for, and the assurance in things that we cannot see.”

Movieguide® recently reported on Huff:

Sadie Robertson Huff is sharing a Bible story that has had a profound impact on her.

“God actually could show up and prove [He is real] to you,” she said in a recent sermon. “He could bring a fire from the sky right now, and we’re like, ‘Yep, He’s real.’ He could enlighten our eyes to see the angels around us, and we’d be like, ‘Totally real.’”

Huff then pointed to the story of Josiah, saying, “I just love that, in Josiah’s day, it wasn’t an angel appearing to him, it wasn’t fire falling from the sky — although God has done that, He could do that, He’s perfectly capable and able to — but it was just the discovery of the Word that changed everything. That was all they needed to know.”
