Outright Games announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game that will bring players to a stylized New York City, set only months after the end of the newest movie.
“Nickelodeon is one of our longest-standing licensing collaborators, and we’re overjoyed to have the opportunity to bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to life in a brand new and original video game,” said Outright Games COO Stephanie Malham. “This is one of the most enduring and beloved franchises in the world and we’re beyond excited to use our expertise to expand the Turtles’ global reach even further through the world of video games.”
The game is set to launch on PC and counsel in 2024.
“It’s exciting to launch our first counsel game set in the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM universe, especially as the franchise only continues to grow,” Paramount’s games and emerging media SVP Doug Rosen said. “The vibrancy of this new film’s animation lends itself perfectly to video games, and we can’t wait for everyone to play it.”
Throughout the game, players will get a chance to take control of all four turtles as they “interact with a host of memorable characters” to save New York City from “a new mutant threat.”
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM was released at the beginning of August to widespread audience approval. The movie featured a host of big-name cast members, including Jackie Chan, Paul Rudd, Maya Rudolph and Ice Cube.
Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:
MUTANT MAYHEM has a strong morally uplifting worldview. The adoptive father of the four turtles has a strong fatherly concern for them and their wellbeing. Also, though the turtles realize that humans probably will reject them if they knew about them, they decide to protect humanity from Superfly’s evil intentions because it’s the right thing to do.
The movie reimagined the Turtles’ art style, following that of SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE and PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH.
