The world of THE CHOSEN is going animated! Prime Video just announced THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES, a new kids series focused on the lessons of Jesus.
“THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES follows nine-year-old Abby and her best friend Joshua as they navigate life in the ancient city of Capernaum,” an official synopsis of the series reads. “When the children encounter a wise craftsman and teacher, Jesus of Nazareth, he helps them change the way they see the world, and they help spread his influence far and wide (among the 7- to 12-year-old set). And did we mention that she has a talking sheep?”

THE CHOSEN’s creator Dallas Jenkins, spoke about the show in a 2024 interview with Variety, saying, “There’s room here to tell the story of Jesus through the eyes of children in the whimsical format of animation.”
“We thought there’s something there, seeing Jesus through the eyes of kids. We’re not going to expand on that in the mothership show,” he continued. “But what if we took time with that, in an animated show that was witty and fun and that adults could appreciate? We really wanted to get this right. We can’t afford for our second project to come out of the gate and people to go, ‘you know, it’s fine.’ But we really want to make sure that the audience really loves it.”
Paul Walter Hauser, Yvonne Orji, Romy Fay, Jude Zarzaur, Danny Nucci and Zehra Fazal are all set to star, and THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie will reprise his role as Jesus.
Ryan Swanson, a former THE CHOSEN writer, will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer.
Prime Video had ordered 14 11-minute episodes, all of which will premiere on Oct. 17 in the US, the UK, Latin America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Sub Saharan Africa.
THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES will be produced by 5&2 Studios, the production company helmed by Jenkins. 5&2 and Amazon Studios recently signed a significant deal, which includes streaming rights to THE CHOSEN, theatrical distribution of the next two installments of the show, and a first-look series and feature deal.
“For several years, the team at Amazon MGM Studios has proved over and over they’re passionate about this show and our fans,” Jenkins said in a statement about the deal. “They’re going to make us better and get the show to more people, and I can’t wait to build this relationship.”
With the success of THE CHOSEN and the creative team behind it, THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES is sure to be another hit for 5&2 Studios.
