THE CHOSEN’s run on The CW continues to draw in more viewers as it approaches the close with the Season 3 finale on Christmas Eve.

“We’ve been completely blown away by the size of the audience engagement, the ongoing viewership, and it’s led to a bunch more people being exposed to the show,” Kyle Young, vice president of global distribution for THE CHOSEN, told Christian Headlines. “We’re just seeing that this story resonates with people all over the world and in so many different ways.”

The CW began airing the show in September, planning to run an episode every Sunday and reach the end of Season 3 on Christmas Eve.

During its first month, the show saw an average viewership of 424,750, rising to a 440,600 average for October and a 492,250 average for November. The December viewership is projected to top half a million, with the first two episodes of the month averaging 514,000 viewers.

THE CHOSEN has ranked as one of the network’s top shows, with its viewership doubling that of many of The CW’s other series.

Fans of THE CHOSEN have much to look forward to as Season 4 of the series approaches. The fourth season will debut in theaters throughout February before becoming available across several streaming services, including the free CHOSEN app.

Director and creator of THE CHOSEN, Dallas Jenkins, also has the CHRISTMAS WITH THE CHOSEN: HOLY NIGHT nativity movie in theaters now through Dec. 17. This one-of-a-kind look at the Christmas story follows the journey of the birth of Jesus through the eyes of Mary and Joseph and the shepherds.

This project combines previous Christmas specials, THE MESSENGERS and THE SHEPHERD.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Dallas Jenkins announced a new Christmas special that will combine his previous holiday specials into the ultimate nativity movie.

“Over six years ago I made a little short film on my friend’s farm in Illinois. Entitled THE SHEPHERD, it was about the birth of Christ from the perspective of the shepherds, and it was only intended for my church’s Christmas Eve service,” Jenkins explained. “It ultimately ended up launching THE CHOSEN.”

“A few years later, with many more resources, we did THE MESSENGERS, a special episode about the birth of Christ from the perspective of Mary and Joseph,” he continued. “This year I had an interesting idea…what it we combine the two? I didn’t think it would work great, but it might be an interesting experiment.”

“When Amada and I saw the first rough cut, we were so moved,” he added. “It does work, and the nativity story took on even more relevance…I can’t wait for you to see it in theaters and ultimately start a new Christmas tradition.”
