Faith Podcast Network plans to release a four-part audio podcast, titled “The Christ,” that will bring the Gospel to life.
“Many have heard the story of Jesus preached, read it in Scripture, or seen it portrayed on screens large and small,” Mark Ramsey, co-director and producer of “The Christ,” said of the new podcast. “Through immersive sound, original production, and performances from stellar, award-winning actors, ‘The Christ’ brings listeners inside the moments that changed the world. This four-part audio epic invites audiences to hear the Gospel with fresh ears and experience the hope, love, sacrifice, and redemption at the heart of the story.”
The star-studded cast includes Tom Pelphery as the voice of Jesus, David Oyelowo as Pontius Pilate, Paul Walter Hauser as John the Baptist, Courtney Hope as Mary, the mother of Jesus, Patricia Heaton as host and John Rhys-Davies as the series narrator.
The podcast will release throughout Holy Week. Episode 1 will debut on March 30, with a new one released each day through April 2. The whole series will be available by Good Friday, April 3.

“The Christ” will be available for free on TheChristPodcast.com or wherever listeners get their podcasts.
“This audio dramatization is the first-ever full-scale audio dramatization of Jesus’ life told across four immersive podcast episodes. Spanning His birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection, the series delivers the scope and emotional depth of a feature film entirely through sound,” Religion News Service announced.
“We are incredibly excited to launch ‘The Christ,’ a project that reflects our heart and legacy,” Faith Media Manager, Karisa Rogers, said. “For more than seven decades, we have shared the story of Jesus in ways that reach people where they are, and we believe this immersive audio experience has the power to impact lives, deepen faith, and introduce new audiences to the hope found in Christ.”
Pelphery recently opened up about his faith and his excitement to portray Jesus in the new podcast series.
“Faith is such a big part of my life, and it has been for a while now. This came to be out-of-the-blue, and I was so excited to be a part of it and tell this great story,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I was raised Catholic, and you can still see remnants of the ashes on my forehead from [Ash Wednesday services]. But my real relationship to faith started when I got sober, and that is actually what got me sober. When people talk about sobriety, you often hear the phrase ‘by the grace of God.’ I fully believe that to be true in my case,” Pelphery continued. “My life went from chaos into order. Maybe a lot of people can relate to this, but I think of my faith like the story of the prodigal son.”
“You’ve gone astray and get beat up out there. You’re sad, scared and don’t know what to do, so you think you should go home. But instead of getting yelled at, punished, or kept at arm’s length, you are received with joy,” he added. “That’s how it felt for me. To now have an opportunity to be a part of telling a story about Jesus, who I believe saved my life, and for that story to possibly help someone who has felt lost, stranded, sad, or scared, is deeply meaningful to me.”
The full four-part series of “The Christ” will be available starting on March 30.
