“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
– Sir Winston Churchill, Speech in November 1942
Cleanse the Screens and the Chalkboards with
By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher
Now that America’s voters have cleansed Congress of a few of the “progressive” rabble and riff-raff trying to “fundamentally transform” the country, they need to turn their attention to the mass media and the schools, including America’s colleges and universities. The left’s push for socialism may now be diminished for the remainder of President Obama’s first term, but a return to government as intended by our nation’s founders will not happen without a transformation of our media and our schools – the two “e-s” – entertainment and education – must be transformed and reformed.
We need to cleanse the screens and the chalkboards with the “living water” that Jesus Christ gives us when He redeems us from our sins.
Unless our children hear the truth about the history of the United States of America and know the faith of our Founding Fathers personally, they will drift back into serfdom.
Millions spent on 30-second political advertising are no match for thousands of hours anti-Christian media and education. Those who give money to fund 30-second conservative commercials help fund hours and hours of liberal media every time they buy products and services advertised on television.
In two years we’ll elect the next president. Far more important than raising money for more campaign commercials is the need to redeem the media and education.
The push for socialism no matter what it is called does not start with politicians. It starts in the media and in schools who are brainwashing our children.
The progressives understand this. In February 2009, the Wall Street Journal reported an Obama administration plan to make the government the sole provider of federal loans, pushing private lenders, including banks, out of the market. Now that the Obama administration has moved to dominate the student loan market, the federal government appears ready to begin dictating what can be taught in colleges and universities increasingly dependent upon government funding to pay their escalating costs.
In the Entertainment Industry, to counter independent Christian and conservative movies, the studios and theaters have gone back to fixing the books. One conservative filmmaker pre-sold tickets to a church, and 99 members of the audience sent him back receipts showing they had been issued tickets for a different movie, JACKASS 3D, instead of his movie. This must be stopped.
The primary teacher of our youth is the Entertainment Industry.
When you support the Christian Film & Television Commission® you impact Hollywood. With your help, on February 18, 2011, I will get to show Hollywood that family films and Christian moral values have won a resounding victory at the 2010 box office. I wish I could say the same for television. We have not had the resources to analyze and report on television the way we do with movies.
Hollywood can be changed. The box office is Hollywood’s voting booth. Movieguide.org is helping encourage more and more families to show media wisdom.
We need your help TODAY. The 19th Annual Movieguide® Awards is rapidly approaching, and we need to get as many Hollywood executives there as we can to hear about the astounding victory of family films and Christian moral values.
The Christian Film & Television Commission® and MOVIEGUIDE® have the tools to teach our children and grandchildren media wisdom and to continue to redeem the mass media of entertainment.
Please help Christian Film & Television Commission® and MOVIEGUIDE® clean the screens and the chalkboards, redeem the mass media and the schools, and transform the hearts and minds of America’s children and grandchildren with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
