THE GOD MAN Director Issues Urgent Call to Prayer
By Movieguide® Contributor
Darren Wilson, the filmmaker behind the new documentary THE GOD MAN took to Facebook this week to call for prayer.
“Hey everyone, you may remember a short while back me asking for prayer for the theatrical release of my newest film, THE GOD MAN. At the time it was receiving far more spiritual pushback than anything I’ve ever done. Well, you guys helped push it over the finish line and God did AMAZING things in theaters across the country. So thank you all for your prayers. But now, I need your prayers once again.”
THE GOD MAN is a documentary where Wilson travels to different places around the world to tell people about Jesus and change their lives.
According to the Movieguide® review:
THE GOD MAN is an inspiring, absorbing movie. It’s told from a charismatic perspective, but it’s filled with great biblical references and excellent evangelical, apologetics information and theology about Jesus, the Apostles and the Gospel. The movie isn’t just an emotional experience. It also has lots of strong Christocentric theology to stimulate the mind. THE GOD MAN has some references to drug addiction, alcohol addiction, violent persecution, and a fear of physical assault. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for preteen children.
In Wilson’s post, he described significant pushback the movie experienced including “Facebook not wanting us to advertise it” and “literal mental breakdowns from some team members.”
“So please come alongside us and PRAY for great breakthrough and for the tactics of the enemy to be silenced,” he pleaded. “And pray for thousands around the world to be able to see and experience Jesus through this film on July 7. Thank you so much!”
Many people responded to the post with support and agreement to pray. “Praying now for you and the film!” One person said. Another posted “God’s got this. We bind every hindering spirit in the Name of Jesus and declare that nothing will stop what God is wanting to release through this film. AMEN!”
Wilson previously directed several documentaries, including FINGER OF GOD and FURIOUS LOVE.
According to the Movieguide® review of FURIOUS LOVE:
FURIOUS LOVE is a wild ride that asks some honest questions and seeks out the answers with serious investment and resolve. The goal is to seek out and learn about Jesus’ love. The documentary is well made and genuine. Often, Western Christian responses to the supernatural are wildly different from the response of believers in other parts of the world, where spiritual darkness shows itself more overtly.
THE GOD MAN can currently be streamed on Peacock, Vudu, Netflix, iTunes, and Amazon.
