Country star Tim McGraw probably would agree with Proverbs 18:22 — “He who finds a wife finds a good thing” — as he shared how his wife of 28 years, Faith Hill, “turned his life around.”

“I’ve been lucky. I’ve been very fortunate. First off, meeting my wife saved my life. I was a wild man,” McGraw said. “I was having fun.”

“She turned my life around. I couldn’t have found a better woman. Not only beautiful and talented, but just a good, good person,” he went on to say.

The couple met in 1994 in Nashville at a Country Radio Seminar and tied the knot two years later. They now share three daughters: Gracie, 27, Maggie, 26, and Audrey, 23.

The “Live Like You Were Dying” singer, who has shared about his alcohol addiction in the past, says he has Hill to thank for his prolific career.

“I guarantee you, had I not gotten married to Faith at 29 years old, A) I probably would’ve ran my career into the ground, and B) I would’ve died already with my career into the ground, one or the other, and it wouldn’t have ever been where it’s at now,” McGraw said, who has been sober since 2008.

He credits fatherhood as another “life-changing” factor that made him a “better person.”

“[Fatherhood] changed my perspective. It changed the way I thought about what my future would be. It certainly took me out of myself,” the Louisiana native said.

A key to their nearly three-decade union is an agreement they made early on with each other.

“We just made a commitment early on, when we first decided we were getting married and having kids, that we wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose,” McGraw told Entertainment Tonight Canada.

The “Don’t Take the Girl” singer also said that as they get older, keeping their marriage strong is about simple moments together, rather than the “big gestures.”

“For our 20th wedding anniversary, we stayed home, in our pajamas and watched TV,” he revealed to PEOPLE magazine. “We loved it.”

The couple, who often perform together, make it a point to pray together.

“Tim and I share a quick quiet moment together before hitting the stage,” Hill said. “Always praying.”

Seems like music is in their family’s blood as their youngest daughter Audrey McGraw released a new original ballad, “Thunder.”

“Here comes another Audrey song this Friday! One of my favorites!!” the proud father posted on Instagram.

It’s wonderful to see how McGraw and Hill keep prioritizing each other and their family.
